Remote chronic disease management - asthma and copd

Just starting to think how we are going to approach our respiratory reviews this year. To save reinventing the wheel has anyone got any experience of remote reviews - advice/tips on what works well/ what to avoid? any protocols to share? Many thanks.

  • Hi Claire really important point and I'm sure something lots of people are thinking of currentyl. Here is a video I recorded recently https://www.pcrs-uk.org/resource/telephone-triage-copd-and-asthma and there are a couple more detailed ones in the pipeline. I think what is important is, as you say, not reinventing the wheel. At the end of the day you still want to be asking the same questions and gathering mostly the same data.  For me one of the best things is the fact that rather than relying on the patient remembering to bring their inhaler with them they will, hopefully, have it to hand so checking inhaelr technique using AccuRX is a real bonus. Let me know if you have any further questions after watching the video. Thanks

This is all I seem to be doing at the moment. If it's not annual reviews, then it's requests to speak with someone who's ordering another blue, or a task from a GP to review a patient who's uncontrolled. I put my thoughts down in my blog:
